Week of Longer Walks and back to Running

…since my left knee started to hurt real bad the other day and the pain came back every time I attempted to run again, I decided to walk real fast and do some light jogging this week. So the walk started today, I walked 2.5 miles and was even able to jog another mile which went pretty well! My goal for this week: walk / jog as fast as I can for at least an hour every day and build up the running at the beginning of next week.

Today I had:

Breakfast:

  • coffee, almond milk
  • 2 hard boiled eggs

Lunch:

  • broccoli, rainbow chard & tuna with feta cheese

Snack:

  • berries, coconut milk, almonds

Dinner:

  • Steamed Swiss chard
  • walnuts

Food & Exercise Diary Feb 13, 2010

So today I had a chat with my chiropractor at Maximized Living to go through my food plan. For some reason I thought I was already following their advanced plan because I have been fighting with my weight for way too long. Their advanced plan pretty much cuts out sugar and anything that could turn into sugar. This plan should help to eliminate toxins and inflammation and help jumpstart the metabolism. It’s kind of like setting the clock to zero.

So, I wasn’t doing the advanced plan but I am now! I will see for how long. I was also recommended to do a detox, which I just recently did but I will do another one just to really make sure I get rid of all the toxins in my body.

Here’s what I had today (with the advanced plan)

Breakfast:

  • 1 cup of coffee with almond milk & sugar (no more sugar tomorrow!)
  • 3 egg omelette with snap peas, cooked in coconut oil
Workout:
  • 5 minutes stretching and warm-up
  • 1.5 mile run / walk, 75/25
  • 5 min cool-down walk
  • 5 minutes stretching
  • Alexander Technique: 5 min rest on flat back

Lunch:

  • salad: mixed greens, avocado, tomato, cucumber, garlic
  • almonds, flax seeds
  • vinaigrette: walnut oil & raspberry vinegar, salt, pepper, nutmeg
  • 2 chicken thighs
Snack:
  • almonds
  • strawberry smoothie (with coconut milk)

Dinner:

  • mixed greens, steamed broccoli, walnut & raspberry vinaigrette

My chiropractor has a book from Maximized Living about a healthy diet and also the advanced plan is included -I will have to study it a little more myself!
